Officially in Franklin, Leipers Fork is an unincorporated community west of downtown Franklin in the rural part of Williamson County. Quaint, homely, bucolic, and old-timey, Leipers Fork offers a great getaway for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of big city life.
The Leipers Fork area was settled in the late 1790s by pioneering families from North Carolina and Virginia that were given land grants as payment for their services in the Revolutionary War. The area was named after the Leiper family who lived along the creek (Leipers Fork) that passes through the village.
The village, with many late 19th century buildings and homes, is a Registered National Historic District. Many of the historic buildings that line both sides of Old Hillsboro Road (Hwy 46) through the center of town are restaurants, antique shops, gift shops and art galleries. Leipers Fork is a very popular place to eat (Puckett’s of Leipers Fork and Country Boy Restaurant) and then do some casual shopping. The Natchez Trace cuts right through the area with incredible view of the countryside.
Notable Franklin residents that actually live in the Leipers Fork area include: Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher, Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavalari, Bill Belichick, and Mike Wolfe from American Pickers.
